Are you trying to make the best move with all the types of marketing strategies available to network/internet marketers?
Types of marketing strategies vary across the board. And you may be wondering which ones work best.
I know that thought has crossed my mind many times, so you are probably in the same boat – most people are!
To start with, we can classify the types of strategies into two broad groups, old school marketing and new school marketing. Let’s take a quick look at both.
Old School types of marketing strategies include your warm and cold market.
Everyone knows about warm market strategies. You know, your upline strongly encourages you to make your list of 100 people (or more), people that you have any kind of relationship with. It may be your mom, dad, Grandma or Grandpa. It may be your mailman, your hairdresser, your neighbor or your high school classmate that you haven’t seen or heard from in 15 years.
If you know their name, you put them on your list. You start with your cell phone contacts… if they’re in there, put them on your list. And, then you start calling everyone.
Even when you think there is no way they would be interested, you contact them anyway. And never try to pre-judge because you never know if something happened in their life recently that would make them open to starting a home-based business.
For example, maybe you recently joined a weight-loss company and even though Aunt Suzy doesn’t look like she needs to shed a few pounds (believe me, we women are great at hiding our rolls), she may be feeling fat because he clothes don’t fit well anymore. She sees herself as needing to buy a new wardrobe to accommodate her expanding waistline. She is down about herself, and if someone brought her a ray of hope where she could get her girlish figure back, she would jump at the chance.
So, this old school method can work very well as long as you are providing the possibility of results that will solve a specific problem. Some call these benefits, but I find that word hard to understand. Too many people dump features on the prospect, which comes across as pitching, and that is the quickest way to kill a chance of growing your business.
Watch this video to see my take on it…
Old school types of marketing strategies spill out into your cold market in the form of talking to strangers.
Now, if you’re like me, my mother always taught me never to talk to strangers, but when you are in an MLM business, you have to go against what mama taught you, right?
So, some of your choices are to hang out at the mall and talk to anyone within 3 feet of you. You may get lucky! You may find those few people who are open to the idea, after you have spent 4 hours just hanging out. Not a bad gig if you have the time and the courage.
Another marketing strategy is to cold-call realtors from their “For Sale” signs. Who knows… with the housing industry down, they may be open too! Woohoo! But, you need to overcome the fear of the phone before you gladly make these calls.
We’ll cover some phone fear strategies in another post so stop back or sign up for my email updates so you don’t miss that post.
These two cold market strategies are just the tip of the iceberg in a sea of marketing strategies that work, but fortunately for us living in the 21st Century, we have new school marketing strategies that work extremely well.
New School types of marketing strategies use new media
With technology, we have the internet and cell phones. You can imagine how learning to use a tool that has access to 2.27 billion users worldwide, would be beneficial to growing your business.
The learning curve and creating a viable marketing plan using the internet is sometimes difficult to figure out though. There are so many possibilities and configurations that will work. Knowing how to combine different strategies to get the best results is often a trial and error adventure unless you have a proven blueprint to follow.
For example, do you learn Facebook Marketing and combine it with blogging? Or do you start video marketing and add twitter marketing to tie it together? It can be very overwhelming and confusing.
Fortunately, we can learn from those who have already done it. With a little guidance and someone to point us in the right direction, we can craft our own successful marketing plan using this amazing tool.
Which types of marketing strategies are better?
The answer is you have to create a mix. When you learn to pick up the phone and talk to people, you’ll be able to easily talk to your new warm market all over the world. Then from the digital menu of possibilities, just pick the types of marketing strategies that fit your personality. Contact me if you’d like to know how I am doing it.
